Clubs of the Year

The 2008 AGM heard the great news that Preston Park Youth Cycle Cub had been awarded Brighton and Hove City Sports Club of the Year 2008 and they displayed their magnificent trophy at the meeting. Next up onto the Podium were VC Jubillee. At the 2008 Sussex Sports Awards the club won the Club of the Year award. And at the same evening PPYCC's very own Anthony Rogers was the well deserved recipient of the Coach of the Year award. In a year when cycling has grabbed the nation's attention the sport's youth clubs in Sussex have shown they are up there with our top riders when it comes to getting awards.

The photograph shows members of VC Jubilee along with Anthony Rogers and paralympian David Stone who won double gold at the Beijing Paralympics for the individual time trial and the mixed individual road race. David won the Disabled Sports Personality of the Year award. Joining him in the photograph (and wearing one of David’s Gold medals) is Gary Brickley the GB disability coach based at Brighton University. We all took the opportunity to hold and examine one of the medals, something that added to a special evening.
